Bella Walker is some footballer
Bella Walker is some footballer – and thankfully Manly United know it.
The 22-year-old, studying her Masters in Occupational Therapy at Sydney University, first arrived at Cromer Park to play in the under-14s.
Her talent was so obvious, come the age of 16 she was playing as a defender in first grade.
“I love the club, the culture is fantastic,” Walker said.
“I still remember why I came to Manly – a few girls I knew from rep basketball were playing football at Manly, so I decided to have a crack as well.”
Over the years Walker has played alongside plenty of talented players, namely ex-Matilda Gill Foster, defender Gemma O’Toole, former Adelaide W-League striker Tiarn Powell and Pelay Ingles.
So when Walker says the 2017 United squad could be the best yet, it carries a fair bit of sway.
“I’m really excited about what we could potentially achieve,” she said.
“The ingredients are all there – we just have to put it all together.”
Good judges are adamant Walker could play W-League.
While she “won’t rule it out”, travel across the summer months has been her priority the past few years.
Long term, Walker is happy to stay at Manly – no doubt music to the ears of the United coaching staff.
