Magnificent Myu Ban shines on Manly United debut
Manly United’s premiership-winning women’s squad already have plenty of match winners, and if last Sunday is any guide, they have unearthed another x-factor in Myu Ban.
The Japanese import was brilliant on debut, finishing with a brace in a resounding 6-0 win versus Sutherland at the Harrie Denning Centre.
Coach Chris Williams described one of Ban’s goals as ‘unbelievable.’
“She got the ball at the edge of the box, took a touch and smashed it top corner with her other foot,” he said.
“Technically Myu is brilliant – as soon she came down to trial with us, we signed her after one training session.
“She has fitted in well with the playing group and adds a further dimension to what we are trying to achieve this year.”
Ban is travelling from Mascot to train multiple times a week and just wants to keep improving as a footballer.
“I didn’t know what to expect when I came to Manly, my agent sorted it out,” she said.
“I was happy with last week (Sutherland), I want to keep playing well in every game.”
The 22-year-old played in Japan at representative level in her teens before having a crack at the junior US College system in Washington.
Australia was her next destination, with her football plans for 2019 and beyond still undecided.
With United gunning for back to back titles, Ban looms as a key figure, especially with her early appetite for finding the back of the net.
Ban and her Manly teammates tackle Bankstown this Sunday afternoon at Jensen Park from 3pm.
