Siemsen signs off with a double for Manly United
Departing striker Remy Siemsen showed just how valuable she is on Sunday afternoon – scoring a brace in Manly United’s 3-1 win against Blacktown Spartans.
The 18-year-old flies out to America this week, taking up a short term professional contract with the California Storm.
They are the feeder club for Orlando Pride who play in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Despite many people urging her not to play at Blacktown Football Park to avoid potential injury, Siemsen couldn’t help herself.
“I’ve been with Manly since I was nine, I wanted one more game with the girls before I left,” she said.
“Nikola Orgill whipped in two great assists – I managed to nutmeg the keeper for the first goal and the second one was a volley, so it was a nice way to finish.
“(Ex Manly player) Sarah Yatim scored for them (Spartans) to make it 2-1, so it was a big relief when Tash Prior got one late to ensure we won.”
United keeper Claire Coelho was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in what was a dramatic fixture at times.
