Manly United win battle of the beaches
It wasn’t pretty, but in the end Manly United’s class prevailed in Sunday’s 2-1 win against Sutherland at Cromer Park.
The away side, who haven’t chalked up a victory so far in 2018, took a deserved 1-0 lead early.
Manly eventually regrouped, with second half goals from Emily Minett and Chloe O’Brien sealing the result.
“We didn’t panic, I stressed at halftime the goals would come,” assistant coach Tom Hopley said.
“Credit to Sutherland, they came here with a plan, and when they scored in the first ten minutes, they were really fired up.
“It was just a matter of staying calm and regrouping, which we did well.
“In the second half we completely dominated, it was a good response.”
Manly are in second spot after 13 games, just two points behind competition leaders Sydney University.
