Manly United look to topple league leaders Sydney Olympic FC
Limiting the influence of Max Burgess will be one of Manly United’s main goals when Sydney Olympic FC make their way to Cromer Park on Saturday night.
The one time Newcastle Jets winger has been a standout all year, and if he is ‘on’ it could be a long night for Paul Dee’s men.
“Along with (striker) Alejandro Sanchez, Max (Burgess) is definitely their go to man,” United skipper Jamie Lobb said.
“Most of their play in the top third involves those two – Burgess is the creator and Sanchez scores the goals.
“In saying that, we don’t fear them and the past couple of weeks we have been defensively quite good.. we have kept clean sheets against APIA and Hakoah.
“If we are composed and patient, we can definitely get a result.”
In a boost for the hosts, Scott Balderson is tipped to start after finally overcoming a nagging hamstring injury.
“If Baldy is fit, it is massive for us,” Lobb said.
“I’m sure he will be keen for a big game against one of his former teams.”
Kick-off is 7pm
