Honours even with Sydney University

Manly United/06 Aug, 18/538/0

A last minute goal cost Manly United a deserved three points in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Sydney University.

Bella Walker and Sunny Franco found the back of the net for Chris Williams’ squad, who were on course for a famous victory only to concede at the death.

“I thought the girls were phenomenal,” the Manly coach said when reflecting on the pulsating contest at Cromer Park.

“It was a real backs to the wall effort from everyone.

“We were gutted to concede late, but after backing up from a midweek game, it was a massive team performance.

“Congrats to (Sydney) Uni as well, they deserved to win the league.”

Manly now face Football NSW Institute in an elimination semi-final this Saturday.

The kick-off time and venue is still to be determined.

In two clashes this year, United won 4-3 on home soil before a 3-3 draw last Wednesday at Valentine Sports Park.
