Green & Siemsen sign-on for W-League 2018/19
This week MUFC’s Ally Green & Remy Siemsen have taken up W-League positions with Sydney FC & Western Sydney Wanderers respectively. This Is Green’s second season in Sky Blue and Siemsen has made the switch across Sydney for Red & Black after spending last year with Sydney FC.
After an injury riddled season in 2017/18 Ally Green is looking forward to earning herself a starting spot in the squad.
“Last season I had Young Matilda commitments during pre-season and got injured which set me back most of the season, so this year so the plan is to get a good healthy preseason in and then try and get some minutes under my belt,” said Green.
She also thinks that a strong showing in the NPL season has given her good preparation going into the start of the W-League season.
“I think we [MUFC] had a good campaign despite not making the grand-final like last year, but I didn’t have any niggling injuries this season, so I am ready to step forward with nothing holding me back this time.”
Siemsen returns to Australia after a very successful first season abroad where she led the goal scoring charts in the WPSL. Turning out for Sacramento based California Storm based she scored 9 goals and notched 5 assists in 8 games.
“The WPSL put me in really good stead coming into the W-League because it was a such a physical and fast league which was something I needed to add to my game. I’m hoping that is an element that will come out in my game this year,” she said.
Off the back of the season she headed to Florida to train with Orlando Pride of the NWSL.
“I had a month stint at Orlando Pride which was fantastic. There are such high quality players there so getting to train with them took me up another level and put me in a really good place to start preseason”.
We wish both our girls all the best for the upcoming season!
