MUFC Profile: Ellie Kerr
ELLIE Kerr has an unrelenting desire to succeed as an elite footballer.
The Avalon junior, who is a key member of the Manly United women’s senior squad aged just 16, has been on the club’s books since the under-9s SAP program.
Always striving to be better, the dynamic teenager typically plays out wide on the right, but is also capable of switching to the left.
“I just love the game,” the Barrenjoey High student said.
“Playing first grade this year (in pre-season) was great, all the girls were very encouraging and it gave me heaps of confidence.
“After getting that taste, I’m definitely keen for more time at that level.”
Long term, Kerr is targeting the W-League and representing the Matildas.
“You have to aim high, so why not,” she said.
The youngster also has a big fan in head coach Chris Williams.
“She is a player with huge potential,” he said.
“If Ellie works hard over the next few years, she could go on to be a fantastic footballer, her natural ability is there for everyone to see.
“She has already shown her quality a few times this season and is living proof our youth system works.. I’m looking forward to working with her on a regular basis in first grade.”
