Manly United vs Emerging Jets – Women’s Reserve Grade Review
MANLY United kept their season alive on Saturday following a thrilling 3-2 win over the Emerging Jets at Valentine Sports Park.
Young gun Ellie Kerr finished with a brace and Gemma van Weeren also found the back of the net.
“I thought we deserved the win,” coach Tom Hopley said.
“We were 1-0 down at halftime but after the break managed to score three quick goals to take control of the game.
“We then copped a late goal which made for a nervous ending, but we were good enough to hold them out.
“Jess Wootton was huge for us, when she came on at halftime she changed the game, they (Jets) couldn’t handle her pace and power up top.”
United next play the NWS Koalas in a grand final qualifier, with the venue TBA.
Meanwhile, the club’s 14s girls got the better of Football NSW 1-0 thanks to Jess Mulchay’s winner and Danny Beauchamp’s 18s boys impressed in a 2-1 win against Sydney FC.
Rising stars Max Rogers and Harry Lomas both were on target.
