Manly United v Brisbane Strikers FFA Cup Round of 16 preview
DYLAN Mitchell has labelled Wednesday night’s FFA Cup round of 16 clash against Brisbane Strikers the “biggest game in the club’s history.”
When you factor in how long the goalkeeper has been on the books of Manly United, it is a statement which carries a fair bit of sway.
“I was fortunate to be in our grand final winning team a couple of years ago, but for me this game (FFA Cup) is bigger,” he said this week.
“The stage is huge, televised (nationally) on Fox Sports.
“If we were to win and then be in the final eight teams at the quarter-final stage, it would be massive on many levels.”
Mitchell, who was the hero last round against Mt Druitt Town Rangers in a thrilling penalty shoot-out, has also promised fireworks if he again happens to be on camera.
“I wear my heart on my sleeve, I’m a passionate bloke,” he said.
“I will fire myself up and make it like a (rugby league) State of Origin scenario, Manly (NSW) playing Brisbane Strikers (Queensland).
“We are quietly confident, our league season was disappointing, so staying alive in the FFA Cup would be great.”
Kick-off at Perry Park is 7.30pm, with the action live on Fox Sports.
