Player Profile: Joe Fox
HE is the former Hull City player who has slotted into the Manly United first team with ease.
And now Joe Fox is determined to stay in Paul Dee’s plans ahead of a semi-final campaign in the National Premier Leagues NSW men’s one competition.
“I’ll be honest, I was a bit surprised when I trained with the lads for the first time,” the screening midfielder said.
“I had seen the boys play in a few clips online, but after the first session I was blown away, they were red hot.
“Young fellas like Dejan (Pandurevic) and Adam (Parkhouse) have huge futures, they just need a few things to go their way.”
Like A-League scouts watching their games.
Every week.
“It isn’t as if they are playing well one week, then poor the next,” the 24-year-old added.
“They are standouts in every game.
“Then you throw in Choc (Brendan Cholakian), Luke Giverin and Sammy (Gallagher) and you can see it is a class team.
“With the semis and FFA Cup (next week versus Bonnyrigg) it is a great time to be in the squad.”
Fox was first picked in the famed Leeds United Academy as a teenager before moving on to Hull City where he earned a senior contract.
He was also smart enough to have a Plan B, completing a three year university degree in physiotherapy.
“You can’t just rely on football, so many things can happen,” Fox said.
“At the moment I’m doing some kids coaching, but when the time is right I’ll definitely look at physio work.
“I’m loving life in Sydney – I’m living with my girlfriend in Manly and can’t thank (technical director) Chris Gallo and (coach) Paul Dee for giving me a chance.
“I’ve been happy with my last couple of performances against Rockdale and Blacktown Spartans, I just need to keep myself in the mix for selection for every game.”
