Miles Milliner called up to Joeys Squad for U17 Asian Cup

Manly youth product and CC Strikers junior Miles Milliner was called up to the Joeys (Australia U17) squad for the U17 Asian Cup, which starts in Saudi Arabia on April 3. He is the only player in the Joeys squad who is not contracted to an A-League or overseas club.

Miles is proud of his status as the only NPL player who will be travelling to Saudi Arabia.

“That’s a good feeling, I think it shows you don’t have to be in a professional academy to get into these squads.”

In February, Miles was part of the Joeys squad that travelled to the United Arab Emirates and won the Hattrick U17 International Tournament.

“I think it was a really good experience playing some high-level Asian countries there, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Oman. I had to work pretty hard to get into that starting team, I think a couple of good performances set me up really nicely there.”

Miles is only 15 years old, but he has been playing for our U20 team this year, and he has relished the experience.

“You improve quicker, because you’ve got to think quicker, everything’s quicker. I’m really enjoying my time here right now, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Australia’s first game in the tournament is against Vietnam on Saturday 5 April, 2am kickoff (AEDT). All Joeys games in the 2025 U17 Asian Cup will be broadcast on 10 Play.
