U9-U12 Mixed Development Squad

What is the Mixed Development Squad Program (Dev Squad)?

Manly United FC’s Development Squad Program delivers Football Australia’s Skill Acquisition Phase Training (based on the National Curriculum), which is designed to equip players with the functional game (technical) skills required for this age and phase of development (U9-U12).

Our Dev Squad program underpins the MUFC Mixed JDL (Junior Development League) squads. Players who are unsuccessful in earning a Mixed JDL position during trials are offered a Dev Squad place.

Dev Squads train alongside the Mixed JDL squads, with the same plan and parameters.

The program is available in the U9 to U12 age groups and runs from early March until September.

The players train two nights a week with Manly United FC, whilst still training and playing games with their local grassroots club in the MWFA competition. Players are not registered with Manly United.

What is the eligibility for Development Squad?

Dev Squad players must be registered with a MWFA club to be eligible for the program.

Who coaches in the Development Squad program?

All Dev Squad coaches either hold or are working toward their C Diploma. Additionally, all coaching staff at MUFC hold their Working with Children Check. Goalkeeper training is offered where appropriate.

Development Squad is overseen by Joe Fox, Manly Warringah FA Head of Youth Football, alongside Jason Bennett, the MUFC Men’s Technical Director.
