Our History

Manly United Football Club has a rich history of representative football on the Northern Beaches extending back over 60 years.

The first time the Manly name appeared in the NSW state competitions was in 1960, when Manly Warringah competed in the Sydney Federation Division One. The club competed under this name until a merger with North Shore United in 1991, which lasted for one season.

For the 1992 campaign, Manly merged with Warringah Freshwater to create Manly Warringah Dolphins. The Dolphins were a representative branch of Manly Warringah Soccer Association and they competed in the NSW state competitions until 2004. After a Soccer NSW ruling which stated that Federation Clubs must be a separate incorporated body, Manly United Football Club was formed.

Manly United is proud to be one of only six clubs who are in the top tier of Football NSW competition for both women’s and men’s football. This focus on both sides of the game was fully displayed in 2017, when the club made history by winning the NPL Women’s and Men’s Championships in the same season. Manly backed this success up by claiming the 2020 NPL Women’s NSW Championship, while the men’s team also played in the 2022 NPL Men’s NSW Grand Final.
