For Female Football Week, we spoke to Mackenzie Jeffs, who plays for our GYL U18 team and also coaches in our Girls JDL program.
“I got into coaching a couple of years ago when I was helping a club team at Manly Allambie, for my cousin who was six years old at the time. It was a boys team and I really enjoyed it. So when Shaz (Girls & Women’s Technical Director) asked me to coach this year, I was excited to do it at Manly United as well, since I’ve grown up here.
“I love teaching the younger kids all the things that I was taught here, and giving back to the club that I’ve been with for so long.”
Mackenzie was also a member of the team that won last year’s GYL U18 Grand Final.
“We ended up coming fourth on the ladder. Winning those last few games was so good because we were not the team expected to win, but we did it together.”
