For Female Football Week, we spoke to Asha Franklin, who plays for our Women’s U23 team and is in her third season of coaching with Manly United.
“I got into coaching through Shaz (Girls & Women’s Technical Director). I had a long-term injury a few years ago, I wanted to do extra stuff around the club and learn more whilst I couldn’t play.
“I love developing the next generation of girls who love football. I think it’s really important for them to have a love for football, not just to be good at it.”
Asha didn’t have to think too much when naming her favourite memory as a player.
“It would have to be last year in the U18s. We won the Grand Final at Valentine Sports Park and our team became so close. That’s my playing highlight.”
