Manly storm to victory against Macarthur

Manly United are now undefeated in their last three NPL Women’s NSW games after winning 3-1 against Macarthur Rams at Cromer Park. Sienna Dale scored her first goal for Manly since her return from an ACL injury suffered in 2024, while Tegan Biasi and Emily Minett grabbed the other goals for the hosts. A goal from Rams forward India Breier threatened to spoil Manly’s party during their Festival of Football, but United held firm in a game that was delayed for two hours in the second half, due to lightning in the area.

The hosts drew first blood in the 16th minute when Minett’s persistence led to a Rams turnover. Biasi collected possession on the edge of the area, made space and blasted an thunderous shot into the top corner.

Four minutes later, Manly had a second goal after a Daisy Arrowsmith corner kick wasn’t cleared, with Minett showing great technique to swivel onto a loose ball and fire a shot in off the underside of the crossbar.

Biasi nearly doubled her tally for the day in the 42nd minute after cleverly evading two defenders and trying for goal from distance, but Issabella Coelho pulled off a fingertip save.

Macarthur halved the deficit on 52 minutes when Breier intercepted a loose pass and took advantage of Manly goalkeeper Jodie Drever being off her line, floating the ball in to make it 2-1. This was a good period for the Rams and they could have fashioned an equaliser in the 61st minute after a smart tackle from Darcey Malone led to a chance for Claire Corbett. However, Drever was equal to the task, protecting Manly’s lead.

Play was then delayed for almost two hours due to lightning in close proximity to Cromer Park. When play resumed, Manly were quick out of the blocks and restored their two goal cushion. Arrowsmith played the ball forward and Dale displayed electrifying pace to streak away from the Rams defence, before coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Manly would hold onto that 3-1 lead until the end, and the result keeps the Northern Beaches side in the hunt for their first NPL Women’s NSW finals appearance since 2020.
