For Female Football Week, we spoke to Sofija Lakic, who plays for our GYL U18 team and also coaches in our Girls JDL program. She got into coaching after observing her own team’s coaches.
“Shaz and Jadon are very good coaches and they love what they’re doing. I thought, ‘why not?’ If they love it, then I’ll love it too.
“I like getting to know the younger girls in the program, seeing them around Cromer Park and saying hello.
Sofija also played in the GYL U18 team that won the 2024 Grand Final.
“I remember the final whistle being blown, and everyone got into one big huddle. We had the U15s, the U16s, some senior players watching, we all got into this big huddle, and it gave us goosebumps.”
