Manly United FC congratulates Life Member and former Director Keith Pester on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours.
Keith was recognised for his significant service to football administration, an honour that reflects decades of dedication to the game across the Northern Beaches and New South Wales.
Few people have contributed more to local football than Keith. His involvement spans more than 40 years, from his early days with Wakehurst FC and Manly Warringah Football Association through to his leadership roles at Manly United. Along the way, he has helped shape the player pathways, community culture and volunteer spirit that remain at the heart of our club today.
Keith’s service has been recognised throughout the football community. He is a Life Member of Wakehurst FC, MWFA and Manly United FC, and a recipient of Football NSW’s prestigious Charles Valentine Award. His contribution to MWFA has included more than two decades as Vice President, as well as numerous other administrative and representative football roles.
While his list of achievements is extensive, those who know Keith best will tell you that his greatest impact has always been felt behind the scenes – supporting volunteers, improving facilities, mentoring others and helping ensure football continues to thrive across the Northern Beaches.
The award of an OAM is fitting recognition for a lifetime spent giving back to the game and the community he loves.
On behalf of everyone at Manly United FC, we congratulate Keith on this wonderful and well-deserved honour.
