Ellie Kerr’s second-half brace helped Manly United earn a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Sydney Olympic at Cromer Park on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors opened the scoring in the first half when Ruby Nathan found the net, leaving Manly with work to do after the break. The response from the hosts was impressive, with Ellie Kerr rising highest to head home an Emma Bates cross and bring the game back level.

As the match entered its closing stages, it looked as though Manly had secured all three points. Kerr grabbed her second of the afternoon in the 89th minute, timing her run perfectly before finishing calmly to put the home side in front.

However, there was late heartbreak for Manly when Olympic’s Peta Trimis found the net in stoppage time to ensure the points were shared.

While the result may have felt like two points dropped after such a spirited second-half fightback, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance as Manly extended their unbeaten run.

U23s Continue Strong Form with Victory

Earlier in the day, the U23s secured all three points with a strong performance of their own. Goals from Sarah Whelan and Eva Morgante proved enough to seal the victory, while Chelsea McCredie produced a composed display between the posts to keep a clean sheet.

Next up, the First Grade side heads to North Turramurra on Wednesday night for a Sapphire Cup semi-final clash with Northern Tigers, before facing the same opposition again on Saturday in Round 16 of the NPL Women’s NSW competition.
